Actress Yasmine Vargas Takes Legal Action with 20 Cyberlibel Cases

In a significant move to protect her family from online harassment, actress Yasmine Vargas has officially filed 20 cyberlibel complaints against several individuals. The complaints are related to alleged defamatory and damaging posts on social media that targeted both her and her family members.

Defending Family Against Bullying and False Accusations

Yasmine Vargas emphasized that she will no longer remain silent in the face of these attacks. "I want to defend my children and our family from bullying and false accusations online," she stated. According to her, attempts were made to resolve the matter amicably back in February, but the harmful posts continued unabated.

She assured that all filed cases are supported by substantial evidence and have undergone proper legal procedures. However, Vargas did not disclose the identities of the respondents involved in these complaints.

Previous Legal Actions and Ongoing Disputes

This recent development follows earlier legal steps taken by Yasmine and her husband, Alfred Vargas. The couple previously filed a complaint with the Manila Prosecutor's Office against the parents of a minor allegedly involved in a bullying incident targeting their child.

In that case, they cited potential violations of the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act and parental obligations under the Family Code. Meanwhile, the camp of actor Rob Sy has denied allegations that his child is a bully, asserting their readiness to address the complaint through proper legal channels.

Call for Respect and Community Awareness

Yasmine Vargas has issued a public appeal, urging people to refrain from spreading malicious and hurtful words online. She stressed that "bullying has no place in our community" and highlighted the importance of maintaining a respectful digital environment.

This case underscores the growing concerns over cyberlibel and online harassment, particularly involving public figures and their families. As legal proceedings unfold, it serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of abusive behavior on social media platforms.
