PBB's Original House Closes After 21 Years in Quezon City

In a significant moment for Philippine entertainment, ABS-CBN has officially closed the doors of the original Pinoy Big Brother house located in Quezon City. This closure follows the show's relocation to a new, yet-to-be-revealed site, marking the end of an era for the iconic reality television franchise.

Farewell Gathering Confirms Closure

The official confirmation came from Laurenti Dyogi, head of TV Production and Star Magic, during a farewell gathering attended by staff, hosts, and network executives. "It's time. This is the time that we officially say goodbye to the house," Dyogi stated, reflecting on the property's long history.

21 Years of Sustained Operation

Dyogi elaborated on the decision, noting, "We've sustained this for 21 years... I've long seen the possibility of moving out of this property, but the collaboration with Channel 7 gave us reason to keep it for a while." This collaboration allowed the production to continue using the house temporarily, even after the property had been sold.

According to Dyogi, the team requested to lease the property temporarily to accommodate two editions of PBB Celebrity Collab, ensuring the show could proceed without interruption. The iconic house, first constructed in May 2005, spans approximately 1,400 square meters and features two bedrooms, a bathroom, a garden, a pool, and 26 cameras operating 24/7, with an estimated cost of P15 million.

Future of the Franchise

The location of the new Pinoy Big Brother house remains undisclosed, with Dyogi hinting that more details will be announced in the upcoming season. The franchise is expected to continue running until 2028, indicating a strong future despite the physical move from its original home.

This closure represents a pivotal shift in the show's production, as it transitions from a long-standing location that has been central to its identity for over two decades. Fans and industry observers alike await further announcements about the new house and how it will shape the next chapters of this beloved reality series.
