The poultry farm in Asturias City has been ordered to suspend operations due to cleanliness issues and complaints about a fly infestation. The Municipality of Asturias imposed a temporary "no chick-in" order for one grow cycle on a poultry farm in Barangay Sta. Lucia, making it the second facility in the city to receive such an order.
The "no chick-in" policy means that no new batch of chicks may be introduced during one chicken raising cycle. In a public advisory posted by the local government on Monday, April 27, 2026, officials said the order was issued after a series of inspections conducted by the Task Force Langaw Inspection Team, which monitors sanitation conditions and their impact on nearby communities.
"Based on the order, the inspection found issues related to the cleanliness of the facility and the presence of flies that affected some residents in nearby areas," according to the municipal government.
As a preventive and corrective measure, the operator was ordered to stop operations for one grow cycle, conduct a thorough cleaning and disinfection, comply with all previous recommendations of the inspection team, and notify the LGU after completing the required steps. The municipality stated that operations will only be allowed to resume after full compliance and verification.
Asturias Mayor Dana Andrew Dumdum also urged other poultry farm operators in the city to strictly comply with environmental and sanitation regulations to ensure public health and the well-being of residents. The local government did not disclose the name of the poultry farm but said that inspections and enforcement will continue as part of their efforts to address sanitation concerns in Asturias.
