Mandaue City Vacuum Truck Unclogs Drainage to Fight Flooding

The Mandaue City Government has deployed a vacuum machine truck to clean and suction waste from the clogged drainage beneath the national road connecting Barangay Canduman and its neighboring areas.

Response to Long-Standing Flood Problem

According to Liga ng mga Barangay President Dante A. Borbajo, this initiative is a response to the long-standing flood problem. Borbajo stated that the drainage system, which channels water toward Barangay Cubacub, has been blocked for several years, causing stagnant water accumulation and localized flooding.

"We requested assistance from Mayor Jonkie Ouano because this problem has been lingering for a very long time, and the drainage has been completely blocked," Borbajo said.

He added that aside from siltation, improper waste disposal has worsened the situation, prompting him to urge residents to practice proper waste management.

"Some people stubbornly throw their garbage anywhere, and all of it eventually accumulates right inside our drainage lines," he added.
