The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), in collaboration with the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), Mactan-Cebu International Airport Authority (MCIAA), and Aboitiz InfraCapital Cebu Airport Corporation (ACAC), inaugurated the OFW Lounge at Mactan-Cebu International Airport (MCIA) on Friday, June 26.
Inauguration Ceremony Led by Key Officials
The inauguration was led by Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Atty. Hans Leo Cacdac, OWWA Administrator Atty. Patricia Yvonne Caunan, DMW Undersecretary Dominique Rubia-Tutay, Cebu Pacific Air Vice President for Corporate Affairs Atty. Maria Cecilia Natividad, ACAC General Manager Ricia Montejo, MCIAA General Manager and CEO Julius G. Neri Jr., Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Cynthia “Cindi” King-Chan, and Joseph Felix Mari S. Durano who represented Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro.
Third International OFW Lounge in the Country
The newly opened facility is the third international OFW lounge in the country, following similar lounges located at NAIA Terminals 1 and 3. It is designed to enhance the travel experience of overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and can serve up to 80 OFWs at a time.
Free Amenities and Services Offered
The lounge offers free food and drinks, comfortable seating and rest areas, free Wi-Fi, charging stations, and assistance desks for various OFW-related concerns and services. It also provides frontline OWWA services including membership registration and renewal, OWWA E-Card issuance, and other welfare and social protection services.
Partnership with SSP Mactan Cebu for Exclusive Discounts
During the launch, OWWA also introduced its partnership with SSP Mactan Cebu, where OWWA E-Card holders can enjoy exclusive discounts on food and retail at participating establishments within MCIA, providing additional benefits for overseas Filipino workers. / Sheryn Sinoy, Intern
