Habagat brings scattered rains, thunderstorms to PH areas

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported on Thursday that the southwest monsoon, locally known as habagat, will bring scattered rains and thunderstorms across several parts of the country.

Provinces Affected by Habagat

Palawan and Occidental Mindoro are expected to experience scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the habagat. PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rains in these areas could lead to flash floods or landslides.

Additionally, the Zamboanga Peninsula, Basilan, Tawi-Tawi, and Antique will see isolated rain showers or thunderstorms caused by the monsoon.

Other Weather Systems

PAGASA also noted that the rest of the country will experience isolated rain showers due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms. The western section of Luzon will have moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough seas, while other areas will experience light to moderate winds with slight to moderate sea conditions.

Impact and Precautions

Residents in affected areas are advised to take precautions against potential flash floods and landslides, especially in low-lying and mountainous regions. The state weather bureau continues to monitor the weather situation and will issue updates as needed.
