Barangay Pangan-an in Lapu-Lapu City successfully celebrated the Tambayang Festival on May 23, 2026, at the Barangay Pangan-an Gymnasium. The event was a heartfelt expression of gratitude and recognition for the abundance of food from the sea, which serves as a vital source of livelihood and cultural identity for the residents of Pangan-an.
Government Commitment to Cultural and Environmental Preservation
The Lapu-Lapu City government, under the leadership of Mayor Cindi King-Chan, has pledged to strengthen its role in cultural preservation, tourism promotion, environmental awareness, and sustainable coastal practices. This commitment underscores the importance of protecting the marine resources that sustain the community.
Festival Highlights and Awardees
Keyheart Maranga was crowned Tambayang Festival Queen, also winning Best in Solo Performance and Miss Photogenic. The first runner-up was Jeshel Ane Sumalinao, while the second runner-up was Hanamenchie Ompad. Hanamenchie Ompad also received the Facebook Idol Award, and Jolia Rose Inoc was named Miss Congeniality. The Best in Andas and Best in Street Dancing awards were won by Mabungahong Manambayang from Sitio Looc Tunga.
