Cebu Pacific Ranked Among Top 25% of World's Most Sustainable Airlines
Cebu Pacific Among World's Most Sustainable Airlines

Cebu Pacific (CEB), the prominent Philippine low-cost carrier, has achieved a significant sustainability milestone. The airline announced on Thursday, April 16, 2026, that it has been recognized by the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) as ranking among the top 25 percent of the world's most sustainable airlines. This prestigious designation highlights CEB's comprehensive approach to managing environmental impacts, caring for employees and communities, and upholding responsible business practices.

Leading the Philippine Aviation Sector in Sustainability

In its official news release, Cebu Pacific emphasized that it emerged as the most sustainable Philippine carrier, achieving a CSA score of 47. This score is notably well above the industry average of 37 and surpasses the performance of most low-cost airline peers globally. The CSA evaluation rigorously measures corporate sustainability across multiple dimensions, including environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and governance frameworks.

Substantial Environmental Achievements in 2025

The airline's sustainability efforts have yielded impressive results. In 2025, while serving nearly 27 million passengers and operating over 170,000 flights, CEB implemented strategies that avoided approximately 35,000 tonnes of carbon emissions. Furthermore, the carrier saved about 11,000 tonnes of jet fuel through strategic fleet modernization and enhanced operational efficiencies. These initiatives contributed to reducing carbon emissions to 75.7 grams of carbon dioxide per revenue passenger kilometer (RPK), demonstrating lower emissions per passenger even amid increasing travel demand.

Strategic Vision and Future Commitments

Aileen Isidro, CEB Vice President for Corporate Strategy and Risk Officer, articulated the company's forward-looking approach. "We continue to take a disciplined and proactive approach to sustainability as we expand our operations," Isidro stated. The airline is committed to building on this progress through ambitious long-term goals. Key among these is the objective to operate an all-NEO (new engine option) fleet by 2030, which promises greater fuel efficiency and reduced emissions. Additionally, CEB plans to expand the deployment of electric ground support equipment (GSE) across key airports, further minimizing its environmental footprint.

The recognition by S&P Global underscores Cebu Pacific's leadership in integrating sustainability into its core business strategy, setting a benchmark for the aviation industry in the Philippines and beyond.
