Bacolod Fire Razes 4 Houses, P270K Damage

A fire broke out in a residential area of Bacolod City early Thursday morning, resulting in significant property loss for several families. The incident occurred at Purok Magsungay in Barangay Singcang on December 17, 2025.

Fire Details and Emergency Response

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Bacolod reported that the blaze began at approximately 4:11 a.m. It originated from the house owned by a resident identified as Helen Moya. The flames rapidly extended to neighboring houses, which were constructed from a combination of light and concrete materials.

Multiple fire trucks from the BFP, alongside volunteer firefighting units, rushed to the scene. However, narrow passageways in the purok hampered access for the emergency vehicles. Firefighters were forced to manually pull and connect long water hoses to reach the burning structures and combat the fire.

Damage Assessment and Aftermath

The fire was successfully put out by around 4:20 a.m., just nine minutes after the first alarm. A total of four houses were impacted by the incident. One house was completely destroyed, while three others sustained varying degrees of damage. Initial estimates place the total value of property damage at about 270,000 Philippine pesos.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported among the residents, which authorities consider a primary success of the response.

Investigation and Aid for Victims

Arson investigators from the BFP have launched a probe to determine the exact cause and origin of the fire. Their inquiries are ongoing as of the latest reports.

In the wake of the disaster, the Bacolod City Government, through the Department of Social Services and Development (DSSD), has provided immediate assistance. Food packs were distributed to at least ten individuals displaced by the fire. These residents are currently taking temporary shelter at the barangay's designated evacuation center while they plan their next steps.
