A fire truck driver from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) sustained injuries after his emergency vehicle was involved in a serious collision with a ten-wheeler dump truck in Bohol on Monday afternoon.
Details of the Loboc Road Accident
The incident occurred at approximately 12:25 p.m. on December 1, 2025, along a curved section of road in Barangay Jimilian, Loboc, Bohol. According to the Loboc Municipal Police Station, the firefighters from Loboc had just completed a road flushing operation and were returning to their station when the crash happened.
At the curve, their fire truck encountered a large dump truck. The driver of the dump truck, 37-year-old Marc Leo Lim from Barangay Sagasa in Balilihan, reportedly lost control of his vehicle. The dump truck went straight into the fire truck, causing a high-impact collision.
Rescue Operation and Injuries
The force of the crash, compounded by the size and weight of the dump truck, caused severe damage to the front portion of the fire truck. The impact trapped the driver, Fire Officer 1 Moises Dalagan, 28, a resident of Bilar, Bohol, behind the steering wheel.
The Loboc Fire Station promptly called for backup from neighboring towns and Tagbilaran City. Rescue teams responded quickly to the scene. Personnel from the BFP Tagbilaran City Rescue Team used specialized extrication equipment to successfully free FO1 Dalagan from the wreckage.
The injured firefighter was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital for urgent medical treatment, where he remains under care.
Driver's Claim and Pending Charges
During the initial investigation, the dump truck driver, Marc Leo Lim, stated that the steering mechanism of his vehicle malfunctioned, leading to the loss of control and the subsequent direct crash into the fire truck.
Despite this claim, Lim is now in police custody at the Loboc Municipal Police Station. Authorities have confirmed that he will be formally charged with Reckless Imprudence Resulting in Damage to Property and Physical Injury.
The incident underscores the dangers on provincial roads and is currently under further investigation by local police.
