A fire truck driver from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Loboc, Bohol, was injured following a serious collision with a ten-wheeler dump truck on Monday afternoon.
Details of the Loboc Road Accident
The incident occurred at approximately 12:25 PM on December 1, 2025, along a curved section of road in Barangay Jimilian, Loboc municipality. The fire truck, which had just completed a road flushing operation, was on its way back to the station when the crash happened.
According to the investigation by the Loboc Municipal Police Station, the fire truck encountered a large dump truck navigating the same curve. The dump truck, driven by 37-year-old Marc Leo Lim, a resident of Sagasa, Balilihan town, reportedly failed to negotiate the turn and collided head-on with the emergency vehicle.
Rescue and Injuries from the Collision
The force of the impact caused significant damage to the front end of the fire truck and trapped the driver inside. The victim was identified as Fire Officer 1 Moises Dalagan, 28, from Bilar City.
Personnel from the BFP and the Tagbilaran City Rescue Team swiftly responded to the scene. Using specialized rescue equipment, they successfully extricated FO1 Dalagan from the wreckage. He was immediately transported to the nearest medical facility for treatment.
Driver's Statement and Pending Charges
In his statement to authorities, dump truck driver Marc Leo Lim claimed that a steering wheel malfunction caused him to lose control, preventing him from making the turn and leading to the collision with the oncoming fire truck.
However, police have taken Lim into custody at the Loboc Municipal Police Station. Authorities are preparing to file a case of Reckless Imprudence resulting in Physical Injury and Property Damage against him as the investigation continues to determine the exact cause of the accident.
