Cebu City Hall is pressing forward with its large-scale relief operations, which began last week, to support residents hit by a series of earthquakes and a typhoon. The city government is working to ensure no barangay is left behind, having expanded and updated the master list of needs for distribution across all affected areas.
Systematic Distribution to Protect Health and Welfare
The city clarified that the distribution is being carried out in a proper and systematic manner to assist all families in need. The operation immediately began providing food packs, drinking water, hygiene kits, and other essential items. The primary goal is to safeguard the health and well-being of residents, especially during this emergency period.
A strong spirit of cooperation is evident among volunteers, Cebu City Hall personnel, and private partners who are working together to prepare and pack thousands of relief packs. Many youth and barangay workers are also assisting in sorting, segregating, and packing the sacks and boxes of aid.
Ongoing Coordination and Logistics
According to Administrative Officer III Rosaline C. Verano, who is managing the operation, over a hundred families have already received assistance as of this writing, with more donations continuing to arrive. Among those helped are several barangays in Cebu City that experienced significant damage.
Verano stated that coordination between City Hall and barangay officials is ongoing to identify gaps and augment aid where necessary. A large truck is also being utilized to deliver the Calamity Relief Assistance to the most remote and severely affected locations.
Community Effort Key to Success
City Hall emphasized the major role of volunteers, barangay workers, and various agencies in the successful delivery of relief packs. They acknowledged that the fast and organized operation would not be possible without the community's bayanihan spirit.
Verano added that if any family has not yet received aid, they can approach their barangay to be listed and included in the next distribution cycle.
The city continues to assure the public that no one will be overlooked and that all affected families will promptly receive their assistance as the swift, robust, and organized operation continues throughout the entire city.
