Resort Puts Christmas Festivities on Hold for Typhoon Victims

In a powerful demonstration of community spirit, Jpark Island Resort & Waterpark Mactan in Cebu has made the compassionate decision to cancel its highly anticipated annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony for 2025. Instead of hosting a grand celebration, the resort is redirecting all event resources to support critical relief operations for the victims of the devastating Typhoon Tino.

A Concerted Effort for Brgy. Biasong

The resort is amplifying its humanitarian drive by collaborating with beloved Filipino comedian Marietta “Pokwang” Subong. This partnership aims to rally greater public awareness and support for the initiative. The funds originally earmarked for the festive event were used to purchase 6,000 one-liter bottles of water.

This core donation was significantly bolstered by generous donors and Pokwang's personal contribution, which included 2,000 packed meals and 500 sacks of five-kilo rice. The relief goods were distributed directly to the storm-battered community on November 19, 2025.

Direct Aid Reaches the Most Vulnerable

The relief operation focused specifically on Brgy. Biasong in Talisay City, an area that suffered severe impacts from Typhoon Tino. Many families in this community lost their homes and belongings due to widespread flooding and significant damage to infrastructure.

The distribution was efficiently carried out at the Sto. Niño Mohon Church, which served as the central hub for the entire operation. This direct aid provided essential support to more than 500 affected families, representing over 2,000 individuals.

Brian Connelly, Jpark’s Vice President for Operations & General Manager, explained the resort's decision. "Our annual Christmas Tree Lighting is a tradition we treasure, but the current situation calls for action and compassion," Connelly stated. "Redirecting these funds to support Brgy. Biasong is our way of standing with the community during this difficult time."

This initiative powerfully showcases the enduring bayanihan spirit of the Cebuano people. It highlights that true resilience is rooted in compassion and unity, proving that communities can come together to ensure no one faces a calamity alone. Through shared challenges, the collective strength and support for one another shine the brightest.
