285 Cebu Families Get P8.5M Home Aid After Typhoon Tino
P8.5M Home Recovery Aid for 285 Cebu Families

In a significant boost to long-term recovery efforts, 285 families from Barangay Cotcot in Liloan, Cebu, whose homes were damaged by Typhoon Tino, have received crucial home recovery assistance from the Aboitiz Foundation. The distribution event took place on Thursday, December 18, 2025.

Substantial Aid for Rebuilding Lives

The comprehensive assistance package, with a total value of P8.5 million, is designed to empower residents to reconstruct their damaged houses. The aid includes construction materials, cement, and cash-for-labor support. Each beneficiary family is set to receive a total of P30,000, strategically allocated to cover all essential rebuilding costs.

The breakdown of the P30,000 aid per family is as follows: P12,000 for construction materials, another P12,000 for cement, and P6,000 for labor costs. To ensure smooth logistics during the holiday season, the physical materials and cement are scheduled for delivery after Christmas this year.

A Commitment to Long-Term Recovery

The turnover ceremony was marked by strong commitments from both local government and the private sector. Liloan City Mayor Aljew Frasco and Anton Perdices, Chief Operating Officer for Distribution Utilities at Aboitiz Power, were present to reassure residents of their unwavering support, emphasizing that the community is not alone in its recovery journey.

Fred Dalumpines, Impact Lead for Climate Action at the Aboitiz Foundation, explained that this home recovery assistance is a targeted initiative focused on sustainable, long-term rehabilitation. "After our relief operations, we saw the need for recovery efforts and rebuilding," Dalumpines stated. He added that the program specifically aims to help families, especially those who lost their homes, to begin the process of rebuilding their lives.

Gratitude and Hope from Beneficiaries

For the affected residents, the aid brings immediate hope and practical solutions. Recipient Remidios Amatiad expressed profound gratitude, particularly with Christmas approaching, as she can now purchase plywood and start reconstructing her house that was swept away by floods.

Lito Tabay shared similar sentiments, thankful for the opportunity to begin repairing his home to provide shelter for his family after it was damaged by floodwaters. Another beneficiary, Gino Arabis, conveyed his happiness at being able to start fixing his house and restart his life with one less worry.

This Home Recovery Assistance program in Liloan follows a pilot launch in San Remigio, Cebu, on November 27, 2025, which was directed at families affected by a 6.9 magnitude earthquake. The initiative underscores a strategic shift from immediate relief to empowering sustainable recovery in disaster-stricken communities across the province.
