PCG Search and Rescue After 7.8 Magnitude Earthquake

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) is conducting search and rescue operations following a devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck on June 8, 2026. The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported on Friday, June 19, 2026, that the earthquake caused an estimated P1.36 million in infrastructure damage in Sarangani and other provinces.

Affected Regions

The provinces severely affected and sustaining heavy damage include Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, Soccsksargen, and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). A total of 799 various infrastructure facilities were damaged.

Casualties

As of the latest report, the death toll has reached 78, with 1,339 injured and 32 missing in the Davao Region and Soccsksargen. The PCG continues its search and rescue efforts to locate the missing individuals.
