Negros Power Achieves 100% Power Restoration After Typhoons Tino and Uwan
Power Fully Restored in Central Negros After Typhoons

Electricity has been fully restored across Central Negros following the severe damage inflicted by two powerful storms in November 2025. The Negros Electric and Power Corporation (Negros Power) announced the milestone, marking a significant recovery for its franchise area.

Swift Recovery from Storm Destruction

Typhoons Tino and Uwan struck the region on November 4 and 9, 2025, respectively, causing widespread power outages. Despite the scale of the destruction, Negros Power managed to reenergize 100 percent of its lateral lines by November 27, 2025. This effort successfully restored power to close to 250,000 households and businesses in a notably short timeframe.

Areas Served and Collective Effort

The utility company provides service to several key areas in Central Negros, including:

  • The cities of Bacolod, Silay, Talisay, and Bago
  • The municipalities of Murcia and Don Salvador Benedicto

Company spokesman Jonathan Cabrera emphasized that the accelerated restoration was a team achievement. Management expressed deep gratitude to a broad coalition of supporters, including government officials, barangay leaders, volunteers, and augmentation teams. Special recognition was given to the company's own linemen and technical crews, whose tireless work was fundamental to the success.

"This accomplishment reflects the true Bayanihan spirit," Cabrera stated, highlighting the community's collective effort.

Recognition from Officials and Advocates

The rapid and coordinated response did not go unnoticed by national authorities and consumer groups. Energy Secretary Sharon Garin publicly commended Negros Power through the Department of Energy's social media channels.

"We commend the Negros Power teams and the resilient communities who have united to restore electricity with extraordinary speed and safety, even in the wake of such devastating storms," Secretary Garin said.

Consumer advocate Wennie Sancho, president of the Alliance of Concerned Consumers in Electricity and Social Services (Access), also praised the utility's work. Sancho highlighted the resilience of the people of Central Negros and the critical role played by Negros Power's personnel.

"As a consumer group that monitored these efforts on the ground, Access proudly commends Negros Power for its effective, timely, and compassionate response," Sancho added.

Return to Normalcy

With power largely reinstated, communities across Central Negros are now resuming their daily routines and economic activities. The successful restoration effort stands as a testament to effective disaster response, strong collaboration between utility providers and communities, and the enduring spirit of Bayanihan in the face of natural calamities.
