Typhoon Domeng has strengthened from a severe tropical storm into a full-fledged typhoon as of Saturday, May 30, 2026, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
Current Status and Location
As of 5 p.m. on May 30, the eye of Typhoon Domeng was estimated at 815 kilometers east of Northern Luzon. The typhoon is packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour near its center, with gusts reaching up to 150 kilometers per hour.
Forecast Path and Intensity
Pagasa reported that Domeng is expected to move in a north-northwestward direction until May 31, after which it will recurve toward Japan for the remainder of the forecast period. The weather bureau emphasized that the typhoon is unlikely to make landfall in the Philippines and is projected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) by Monday, June 1.
Despite this, Domeng is forecast to continue intensifying over the Philippine Sea. It may reach its peak intensity on Monday before gradually weakening. However, the typhoon is expected to maintain its typhoon status throughout the rest of the forecast period.
Residents in Northern Luzon are advised to monitor updates from Pagasa as the typhoon approaches the region, though no direct impact is anticipated at this time.
