Pampanga Escapes Major Damage as Super Typhoon Uwan Crosses Luzon

Pampanga Vice Governor Dennis 'Delta' Pineda announced positive news amidst the powerful storm that battered the region, confirming that the province recorded zero casualties as Super Typhoon 'Uwan' moved across Luzon from Sunday night until Monday morning, November 10, 2025.

Evacuations and Ongoing Assistance

In a social media update, the acting governor shared his relief, stating, "Masaya ko pong binabalita na zero casualty po tayo at walang nasaktan." Despite the good news regarding lives lost, the typhoon's impact was still significant. Pineda disclosed that approximately 1,700 families sought refuge in designated evacuation centers as the storm, the Philippines' 21st tropical cyclone for the year, affected Central and Northern Luzon.

While some families have started to return to their homes, Pineda strongly urged residents living in high-risk zones to remain in the evacuation centers for their own safety. He assured all evacuees that the provincial government will continue to provide them with necessary assistance and support during this period.

Flooding and Suspended Classes

The aftermath of the typhoon continues to pose challenges for certain areas. Vice Governor Pineda noted that at least 39 barangays in the coastal towns of Macabebe and Masantol are still experiencing flooding, exacerbated by high tide. In response to the situation and anticipating more rain in the coming days, the provincial government has suspended classes in all public and private schools until November 11.

However, in a move to normalize services, government operations are set to resume on Tuesday. This decision aims to ensure that the delivery of essential services to Kapampangans continues uninterrupted. Pineda specifically advised residents in high-risk areas located in Mt. Arayat to stay in evacuation centers until Tuesday as a precautionary measure.
