Pampanga Water Districts Conduct Benchmarking Activity at Solar-Powered Reservoir
The Pampanga Association of Water Districts (PAMAWD), under the leadership of President Engr. Pedrito Luzung, who also serves as General Manager of Bacolor Water District, recently organized a significant benchmarking initiative. This event focused on the Solar Power System installed at the Angeles City Water District (ACWD) Central Reservoir located in Barangay Sto. Domingo.
Advancing Energy Efficiency and Sustainable Operations
This activity highlighted PAMAWD's dedication to enhancing energy efficiency and fostering sustainable practices among water districts throughout the region. The solar facility at ACWD stands as a pioneering model, illustrating how renewable energy solutions can be seamlessly integrated into water utility infrastructures to improve operational resilience.
First Fully Funded Solar System in Philippine Water Sector
According to ACWD, it has achieved a notable milestone as the first water district in the Philippines to fully implement a Solar Power System with complete funding support from the Philippine National Oil Company (PNOC). This partnership represents a crucial advancement in accelerating the adoption of renewable energy within the water sector, aimed at reducing operational expenses and minimizing environmental impacts.
"This initiative sets a strong example for other water districts nationwide, showing that sustainability and efficiency can go hand in hand," stated ACWD officials.
Collaborative Participation from Member Districts
The benchmarking activity saw participation from numerous PAMAWD member water districts, including representatives from:
- Mabalacat City
- Lubao
- Porac
- Macabebe
- Angeles City
- Bacolor
- Floridablanca
- Guagua
- Candaba
- Sta. Rita
Key attendees featured General Managers such as Hector Aguilar from Mabalacat, Evelyn Galicia from Lubao, Hilda Ribunal from Porac, Michelle Macalino from Macabebe, Edgar Lopez from Angeles City, Pete Luzung from Bacolor, Jeffrey Lintag from Floridablanca, Eduardo Rodriguez from Guagua, Reinel John Estacio from Candaba, and Rolando Miranda from Sta. Rita.
Promoting Wider Adoption of Renewable Technologies
Through this collaborative effort, PAMAWD aims to encourage broader implementation of renewable energy technologies across the water service sector. This initiative is designed to strengthen resilience and sustainability in water delivery systems not only in Pampanga but also in neighboring regions, setting a precedent for eco-friendly utility management.
