A container van loaded with plywood fell off a prime mover truck in Barangay Mabolo, Cebu City early Thursday morning, June 4, 2026. The incident occurred along Juan Luna Street around dawn.
Driver identified
The driver was identified as Ronald Rondina, 43, originally from Medellin town but currently residing in Danao City. He was accompanied by his truck helper at the time of the incident.
Delivery route
According to reports, the truck had just left their office in Barangay Mabolo and was heading to Catarman in Liloan town to deliver the plywood.
Rondina said that as they reached the area, he noticed the truck suddenly felt lighter. Upon checking, he discovered that the container van had detached from the tractor and toppled onto the road.
Possible cause
Rondina believes that the locking mechanism connecting the container van to the tractor may have loosened or was not properly secured, causing it to detach when the truck turned.
Fortunately, no other motorists were hit or injured in the incident.
