Tropical Depression Verbena has unleashed significant rainfall across the Visayas region, with Dumanjug in Cebu recording alarming precipitation levels that triggered flooding in southern parts of the province.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) Visayas reported that Dumanjug, Cebu registered more than 200 millimeters of rainfall during the past 24 hours. This substantial volume of precipitation resulted directly from Tropical Depression Verbena's weather system, which concentrated its effects on Southern Cebu.
Chief weather forecasting specialist Jhoemer Eclarino confirmed these measurements during an interview on Tuesday, November 25, 2025. He emphasized that while Verbena has weakened to tropical depression status, it continues to generate significant rainfall across the entire Visayas region.
Regional Impact and Comparisons
Flooding reports have emerged from multiple areas including southern Cebu, Negros, and Bacolod as Verbena's weather system moves through the region. Eclarino provided context by recalling that earlier this month, Typhoon Tino brought extreme rainfall to Cebu, recording an impressive 400 millimeters of precipitation.
Although Verbena's rainfall measurements are lower than Tino's record, the volume remains substantial. Weather experts explain that the current rainfall translates to more than one million drums of water per cubic meter, illustrating the massive volume of water affecting the region.

Pagasa has indicated that no heavy rainfall signals are expected following this weather event. The agency forecasts that weather conditions will transition to light to moderate intermittent rains in the coming days.
