Cebu's Electricity Gradually Returns After Typhoon Tino
Power has been successfully restored to most areas across Cebu province following widespread outages caused by Typhoon Tino, according to an announcement from Visayan Electric on Sunday, November 9, 2025.
Restoration Progress Reaches Significant Milestone
In an official advisory, Visayan Electric reported that electricity restoration for 474,312 customers, representing 92.57 percent of its total customer base, is nearly complete. The utility company's personnel have been working around the clock to reach the remaining affected communities still without power.
The power company provided specific recovery percentages for various municipalities, showing uneven progress across the region. San Fernando leads with 99.01% restoration, followed closely by Naga City at 98.66% and Minglanilla at 98.74%.
Areas Still Experiencing Recovery Challenges
Some locations continue to face slower recovery rates. Liloan remains at 81.74 percent restoration, while Cebu City has reached 89.67 percent power recovery. These areas require additional repair work before full service can be restored.
"Restoration is ongoing, and we appreciate the continued patience, understanding, and cooperation of our customers," stated Visayan Electric in their official communication.
Safety Reminders for Residents
Utility officials reminded residents to remain vigilant about potential hazards, including:
- Fallen power lines that may still be active
- Dangerous electrical equipment damaged by the typhoon
- Ongoing outages that should be reported through official channels
Customers experiencing continued power problems are encouraged to report them through Visayan Electric's official hotline. The company serves multiple cities including Cebu, Mandaue, Talisay, and Naga, along with the municipalities of Liloan, Consolacion, Minglanilla, and San Fernando.
