Danao City Suspends Work as Tropical Depression Wilma Approaches
Danao City Halts Work for Tropical Depression Wilma

Danao City in Cebu has proactively suspended work in all government offices to prepare for the potential impact of Tropical Depression Wilma. The order was issued on December 5, 2025, as a precautionary measure to ensure public safety.

Mayor's Executive Order Halts Government Operations

Through Executive Order No. 100, Series of 2025, Danao City Mayor Ramonito “Nito” Durano mandated the work suspension. The directive aims to allow the city and its residents to focus on necessary preparations ahead of the tropical depression's arrival. The suspension is a key part of the local government's disaster risk reduction strategy.

Essential Services Remain Operational

While most offices are closed, critical frontline agencies are required to continue their operations. These essential offices include the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the City Health Office (CHO), and the Philippine National Police - Danao City Police Station.

Other crucial offices that will remain on duty are the Bureau of Fire Protection - Danao City Fire Station, the City Engineering Office, and the City General Services Office. Their continued operation is vital for emergency response, public order, and infrastructure monitoring during the weather disturbance.

Call for Private Sector Participation

Mayor Durano's order also extends a strong appeal to the private sector. Private establishments and businesses are strongly encouraged to suspend their operations or implement work-from-home arrangements. This recommendation is made to safeguard the welfare and safety of their employees, aligning with the city's overall safety objectives.

The preemptive work suspension underscores Danao City's commitment to prioritizing the safety of its constituents over regular activities. By taking these steps early, the local government hopes to minimize risks and ensure a coordinated response as Tropical Depression Wilma approaches the area.
