18th Batch of Filipino Healthcare Workers to Japan

The 18th batch of Filipino healthcare workers under the Philippine-Japan Economic Partnership Agreement (Pjepa) is scheduled to depart for Japan on June 10 and 11, 2026, the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) announced.

In a statement, the DMW confirmed that 211 Filipino nurses and care workers are now ready for deployment. Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the group includes five nurse candidates and 206 care worker candidates. He emphasized that this batch demonstrates Japan's enduring trust in Filipino workers.

Before deployment, the healthcare workers completed a six-month Preparatory Japanese Language Training program and comprehensive pre-departure orientations. The DMW noted that this training provides essential Japanese language proficiency, cultural insights, and core workplace competencies for their roles in Japan.

Upon arrival, the workers will be assigned to various hospitals and eldercare facilities across Japan. Cacdac urged them to maintain an adaptive mindset while working toward obtaining official Japanese licenses and certifications. He assured them that the Philippine government will continuously monitor their status in Japan.

The DMW and its Migrant Workers Office are committed to providing ongoing administrative and protective support to the candidates throughout their deployment, Cacdac added.
