Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro has expressed support for holding a Festival of Festivals in the province during its founding anniversary to boost the heritage and creative sectors, as well as to prepare contingents for the Sinulog festival. This was announced by Baricuatro as a possible inclusion in the anniversary activities in August.
Governor's Statement
“Our festival of festivals started with discussions in our planning team, but most likely I would support it. Also to encourage our heritage and our creatives to showcase their talents,” Baricuatro said on June 10, 2026.
“But of course we have to keep our expenses down because all LGUs already have many festivals all over the province, so it would be better to showcase them and select from them so that during Sinulog we won't have trouble deciding who to send,” she added.
Previous Administration's Initiative
The Festival of Festivals was previously held under the name Pasigarbo sa Sugbo during the past administration. Each year, a large budget and additional subsidies were allocated to participants. This contrasts with the governor's earlier statement upon assuming office that there would be no more Pasigarbo sa Sugbo.
Baricuatro clarified that she supports the event, but if it pushes through, there is no need to spend too much. “Of course, if it ever pushes through, we will keep our expenses down, and besides, we cannot afford P300 million for Pasigarbo sa Sugbo,” Baricuatro said.
