The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) reported that approximately 1.59 million individuals have been affected by the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck parts of Mindanao on June 8.
Affected Population and Displacement
According to the NDRRMC, a total of 1,599,350 people or 375,664 families from 580 barangays in Davao Region and SOCCSKSARGEN were affected. Of these, 22,109 individuals remain in evacuation centers, while 63,351 have received assistance outside evacuation sites.
Casualties and Injuries
The agency confirmed 77 deaths after verifying one additional victim from previous records. This includes a case in Glan, Sarangani, initially listed as both dead and missing but later confirmed deceased and removed from the missing persons list. As of the latest data, 31 people remain missing and 1,339 are injured.
Infrastructure Damage
Monitoring of infrastructure damage continues, with 130 roads and 47 bridges affected in Davao Region and SOCCSKSARGEN. Forty-seven areas experienced power interruptions, with some electricity supply already restored. An estimated 68,511 houses were partially damaged, and 14,234 were totally destroyed in Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, SOCCSKSARGEN, and the Bangsamoro region.
Economic Impact and Aid
Infrastructure damage has reached ₱1.356 billion, while ₱318.66 million in aid has been distributed by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), and local governments. The NDRRMC reported that over 456,000 family food packs have been distributed to affected regions.
Landslides Reported
The Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA) reported landslides in parts of Sarangani and Davao Occidental based on satellite images, with an estimated 137.87 hectares affected by ground rupture after the earthquake.
