Investigators reported that the motorcycle was moving in the northbound lane when it suddenly executed a U-turn, crossing directly into the path of the oncoming pickup. The pickup driver stated that he attempted to brake to avoid the collision but could not stop in time due to the motorcycle's proximity.

The impact threw both motorcycle occupants onto the road, and they were reportedly dragged several meters by the vehicle. Navares sustained severe head injuries and died at the scene. Mondares was rushed to the Cebu City Medical Center but was later declared dead on arrival.

The pickup driver is currently in police custody. Authorities are preparing to file charges of reckless imprudence resulting in double homicide, pending the outcome of further investigation.
