Celebrating 50 Years of Service and Leadership: Two Golden Milestones
Fifty years represents an extraordinary journey for any institution, marking not just endurance but a profound celebration of vision, dedicated service, and the individuals who have carried a mission forward through decades of change. This week, I am doubly blessed to commemorate two deeply personal milestones: the 50th anniversary of the Kiwanis Club of Muntinlupa Rizal, where I am a Charter member, and the Golden Jubilee of the Asian Institute of Management's Master in Management Class of 1976, to which I proudly belong.
The Kiwanis Club of Muntinlupa Rizal: A Legacy of Community Service
When we founded the Kiwanis Club of Muntinlupa Rizal in 1976, our purpose was simple yet profoundly impactful: to serve the community, with a special focus on supporting youth. Over the decades, I have witnessed our members organize numerous initiatives that embody the Filipino spirit of bayanihan, including medical missions, scholarship programs, and livelihood projects. In Muntinlupa, Kiwanis has become a steady and reliable presence, quietly but consistently uplifting lives and fostering positive change.
Our influence extended beyond the city limits, leaving a lasting mark on the Philippine Luzon District. The club produced two District Governors, Gov. Romy Tan and Gov. Boy Valencia, whose leadership significantly expanded the reach of our service efforts. As a Charter member, I reflect with immense gratitude on how the principle of service above self has endured for half a century, weaving itself into the very fabric of our community and creating a legacy that resonates far and wide.
The Asian Institute of Management: Shaping Global Leaders
In that same pivotal year, I was part of another pioneering endeavor: the Master in Management Class of 1976 at the Asian Institute of Management. AIM was envisioned to train leaders who could meet global standards while remaining deeply rooted in Asian realities. Our class was truly global in composition, with more than half of our batch comprising foreign students from diverse regions including Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Australia, New Zealand, the United States, and Germany.
This rich diversity of perspectives greatly enriched our learning experience and forged friendships that transcended geographical borders. In the 50 years since graduation, my classmates have assumed influential roles in boardrooms, public offices, and entrepreneurial ventures worldwide. The discipline and broad perspective instilled by AIM continue to ripple outward, contributing to both national and international development. For me, this Golden Jubilee is not only a celebration of personal achievement but also a powerful testament to how education can shape institutions, communities, and futures on a grand scale.
A Shared Theme: Leadership Anchored in Service
What binds these two anniversaries together is a shared foundational theme: leadership firmly anchored in service. Kiwanis represents grassroots volunteerism, directly touching lives at the community and district levels through hands-on efforts. In contrast, AIM represents professional excellence, shaping policies and enterprises that impact nations and beyond through strategic leadership.
Together, they offer a compelling reminder that progress is built both from the ground up and from the top down. Enduring institutions are sustained not only by vision but also by core values that guide their actions and inspire continued commitment.

As I mark these Golden milestones, I do so with a heart full of gratitude and a renewed sense of resolve.
