Clark International Airport Conducts Comprehensive Security Drill
Clark International Airport (CRK), in a significant collaboration with the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP AVSEGROUP), successfully executed its inaugural full-scale security exercise on Monday. This critical drill was meticulously designed to simulate an aircraft hijacking scenario, providing a rigorous test of existing emergency response procedures and operational readiness.
Testing Emergency Protocols and Tactical Response
The exercise focused on evaluating and refining the airport's emergency response mechanisms to ensure that all teams are fully prepared for critical situations. The PNP AVSEGROUP, alongside its Special Operations Unit, showcased advanced negotiation techniques and tactical assault strategies during the simulation. The primary objective of these maneuvers was to preserve human life and uphold human rights standards throughout the operation.
Office of Transportation Security Administrator Undersecretary Gilberto DC Cruz praised the exceptional dedication and seamless coordination demonstrated by airport authorities, law enforcement personnel, emergency responders, and aviation security teams. He specifically commended the participants for their realistic portrayal of their assigned roles, which significantly contributed to the overall success of the activity.

Cruz described the tactical assault component as "one of the most precise SOU execution I have ever witnessed." He emphasized that the exercise clearly highlighted the vital importance of preparedness, discipline, and unified action in safeguarding the nation's aviation sector. Furthermore, Cruz noted that this security drill forms an integral part of broader preparations for the Philippines' upcoming hosting of the ASEAN Summit and related engagements at the Clark facility.
Noel Manankil, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Luzon International Premiere Airport Development Corp (LIPAD), expressed profound gratitude to all supporting agencies involved in the exercise. "Ensuring the safety of CRK and its facilities is fundamental to our commitment to passenger security. Through these comprehensive exercises, we enhance our operational capabilities, identify specific opportunities for improvement, and maintain our readiness to respond effectively to any potential crisis," Manankil stated.

Despite the extensive nature of the security drill, airport officials confirmed that all flights and terminal services proceeded according to their regular schedules.
