Man Shot on Sidewalk After False Theft Accusation

A man who was initially beaten on Saturday, June 13, 2026, after being accused of stealing items from parked trucks on S. Osmeña Jr. Boulevard was shot while sitting on a sidewalk at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2026.

The victim was identified as Aljer Salem Tuyogan, 30, a resident of Sityo Silangan 2, Barangay Tejero, Cebu City.

Waterfront Police Station 3 received a phone call reporting a wounded person sitting on the sidewalk. Police immediately responded and found the victim with a gunshot wound to the head, his face covered in blood.

Medical personnel from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office brought the victim to Cebu City Medical Center.

As of this report, the shooter has not been identified, but police continue their investigation.

Earlier, the victim had been accused of stealing cargo from parked trucks in the area. However, upon checking CCTV footage, it was determined that the victim was not the one responsible and was believed to have been falsely accused.
