Marcos: Cooperation Key to ASEAN-Russia Peace at Summit

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. called for stronger cooperation between ASEAN and Russia instead of rivalry. He made the statement at the opening of the ASEAN-Russia Summit in Kazan.

President Marcos highlighted three main goals of cooperation: a safer region against terrorism and cybercrime, a stronger economy through trade and energy, and expanded people-to-people ties in education and culture.

According to President Marcos, the 35 years of partnership is just the beginning of a broader and more stable ASEAN-Russia relationship in the coming years.

Meanwhile, the President expressed his honor in being Co-Chair of the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“We must continue to invest in these bonds, placing our youth not merely at the receiving end of this cooperation, but at its center, as the generation that will ultimately decide what ASEAN-Russia relations will become,” President Marcos said.
