The anticipated talks would see a high-powered U.S. delegation, expected to include President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, sit down with Russian representatives. The Russian team is likely to feature Kirill Dmitriev, a special envoy for President Vladimir Putin. This meeting would follow last weekend's discussions in Berlin involving U.S., Ukrainian, and European officials.
In a parallel diplomatic move, Ukrainian National Security Adviser Rustem Umerov is also scheduled to meet separately with the American delegation, either in Miami or at another U.S. location over the weekend. "Ukraine stands ready to agree on security guarantees based on NATO Article 5 as a part of a compromise in the peace process," Zelensky said, as reported by the Ukrinform news agency. However, such ironclad assurances have not yet been offered by the United States.
