A shocking act of violence left a woman with a severe injury after her neighbor allegedly bit a chunk of flesh from her forehead in Cebu City. The incident, which highlights the dangers of drug-related aggression, has led to an arrest and pending criminal charges.
Horrific Assault in Sityo Sampaguita
The attack occurred at around 7:00 in the morning on Monday, January 5, 2026, in Sityo Sampaguita, Barangay Inayawan, Cebu City. The victim, a 43-year-old woman identified only as alias Josa, was reportedly taking a bath when her neighbor, 41-year-old alias Bebe, passed by.
According to Josa, Bebe began making loud, disparaging remarks and spreading malicious gossip. This prompted Josa to confront her neighbor, leading to a heated argument that quickly escalated into a physical altercation.
A Bite That Tore Skin and Flesh
During the struggle, the situation took a gruesome turn. The suspect, Bebe, allegedly grabbed Josa by the hair and bit her on the forehead. The force of the bite was so severe that it tore off skin and flesh from Josa's forehead.
Witnesses described a horrifying scene. Neighbors said the suspect looked like a "zombie" or a monster ("ungo") during the attack. "She really looked like a 'zombie,' and then she spat out the skin and flesh she had bitten off. Her mouth was still bleeding," one neighbor recounted.
Josa sustained significant wounds from the biting and required immediate medical treatment at a local clinic.
Suspect's History and Defense
Following the assault, Josa went directly to the Inayawan Police Station to seek the arrest of her neighbor. When confronted, the suspect admitted to using harsh words but claimed she was not referring to Josa. Bebe stated that when Josa pushed her and due to the confined space, she had no choice but to defend herself by pulling hair and biting.
This was not the first time the suspect has bitten someone. Investigation revealed that just the previous year, Bebe had bitten a barangay tanod (watchman) from Inayawan when she was confronted for causing a disturbance. That victim suffered an arm injury that left a permanent scar.
Authorities disclosed that the suspect is believed to be suffering from mental health issues linked to her addiction to illegal drugs. She has been arrested and sent to rehabilitation in the past, but has apparently relapsed.
Alias Bebe is currently detained in jail as police prepare to file formal charges against her. The case serves as a stark reminder of the potential for extreme violence stemming from substance abuse and untreated mental health conditions within communities.
