Rotary Clubs Bring Christmas Joy, Nutrition to Bacolor School Children
Rotary Clubs Bring Christmas Cheer to Bacolor Pupils

In a heartwarming pre-Christmas initiative, a coalition of Rotary Clubs in Pampanga brought festive cheer and essential support to undernourished school children in Bacolor. The event, held on December 15, 2025, saw volunteers distribute food, vitamins, and toys to pupils of Maliwalu Proper Elementary School in Barangay Maliwalu.

Nourishing Bodies and Spirits

Led by Assistant Governor Carla Espinosa, the activity was organized by eleven Rotary Clubs from Cluster 4A of Rotary International District 3790. The group shared noche buena packages and simple meals with the young students. This gesture was more than a holiday party; it was a continuation of a critical 120-day feeding program that began at the same school in July 2025.

According to Espinosa, the school was selected after Rotary members identified a significant number of pupils who were underweight. Some children were even classified under severe categories like "wasted" and "severely wasted," indicating they were far below a healthy weight for their age. The sustained feeding effort has yielded visible results.

"Since the program began, teachers and volunteers have seen big changes," the report noted. "Many of the children have gained weight and now look healthier and more active compared to before."

A Day of Smiles and Support

The Christmas celebration provided more than just nutritional support. The Rotary Clubs also gave the students multivitamins, shoes, and toys. A highlight for the children was the surprise visit from a friendly mascot of a popular fast-food chain, which sparked laughter and joy throughout the school grounds.

Presidents and officers from the participating clubs were present, personally handing out the food and gifts. Their direct involvement underscored the community's commitment to the well-being of the children in this area.

Reaching a Remote Community

Barangay Maliwalu's location presented a specific need. Situated near the eastern side of the Megadike, it is one of the barangays in Bacolor that is far from the town center, potentially limiting access to services and support. This targeted activity aimed to bridge that gap.

The Rotary Clubs involved in this meaningful outreach include:

  • Rotary Club of Central Pampanga
  • Rotary Club of Dolores
  • Rotary Club of Greater Floridablanca
  • Rotary Club of Pampanga Cosmopolitan
  • Rotary Club of Metro San Fernando
  • Rotary Club of San Fernando (P)
  • Rotary Club of Eastern Pampanga
  • Rotary Club of Southern Pampanga
  • Rotary Club of Western Pampanga
  • Rotary Club of San Fernando Cabalen
  • Rotary Club of Villa de Bacolor

Through this combined effort, the Rotary Clubs of District 3790 have demonstrated a powerful model of service. They are addressing immediate hunger and holiday needs while investing in the long-term health and brighter future of children in a remote community.
