Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival has issued an Executive Order (EO) reinstating the quarterly financial assistance for senior citizens, along with stricter guidelines for claiming the benefit, validation, and reporting requirements to improve accountability and streamline the release of aid.
Under the EO signed on June 3, 2026, qualified senior citizens will receive P3,000 per quarter, equivalent to P1,000 per month, starting from the second quarter of 2026.
Through the EO, the city officially resumes the quarterly distribution of the financial assistance program for senior citizens. City Hall said this aligns with the policies of the executive and legislative branches and will also help frontline offices manage their work more effectively.
Archival said the move was also adopted in consideration of the challenges posed by Typhoon Tino and the need for the City Treasurer’s Office (CTO) to expedite the release of aid to vulnerable sectors.
The EO stated that by consolidating aid into quarterly payouts, beneficiaries will receive a larger amount at one time while allowing city offices to balance regular government services and ongoing rehabilitation efforts after the typhoon.
Under the new guidelines, senior citizens will receive their aid every quarter, expected to be distributed in April, July, October, and December or January, unless a new order changes this schedule.
The city will conduct the distribution within 10 days, and the schedule will be announced at least one week before implementation. Payout activities will take place from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
During the first three days of each distribution period, the aid will be given out in barangays or school gymnasiums. Bedridden senior citizens will be visited at their homes to receive their aid.
Beneficiaries who cannot claim their aid within the three-day barangay distribution can still claim it at the City Treasurer’s Office within the remaining seven days.
However, any aid not claimed after the 10-day distribution period will be forfeited, and the right to claim it will be lost.
