Authorities in Bohol have scored a significant victory in the fight against illegal drugs with the arrest of a high-value target and the confiscation of a substantial amount of suspected shabu valued at millions of pesos.
Major Drug Bust in Barangay Bool
The successful operation was conducted by the Tagbilaran City Police Station's City Drug Enforcement Team. It took place at 12:40 PM on Friday, December 19, 2025, in Purok 8 of Barangay Bool, Tagbilaran City.
The apprehended suspect was identified as Joseph Morgia, 41 years old. While a native of Maribojoc, he was currently residing in Barangay Manga within Tagbilaran City at the time of his arrest.
Massive Drug Haul and Police Operation
During the buy-bust, operatives seized a large bundle of suspected shabu. The illegal substance weighed approximately 375 grams and carries an estimated standard drug price of P2,550,000.
The operation was the culmination of careful police work. Authorities first received a tip from a confidential informant regarding Morgia's alleged illegal activities in the area. Police Lieutenant Colonel John Kreen Escober, the city police chief, immediately ordered a thorough monitoring of the suspect's movements.
After gathering sufficient intelligence and confirming the information, the anti-illegal drug operation was launched, leading directly to Morgia's capture.
Charges Filed and Ongoing Campaign
The Tagbilaran police have prepared criminal charges against the arrested individual. He will face violations of Section 5 and Section 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
This arrest underscores the continued efforts of law enforcement agencies across the Philippines to combat the drug trade, particularly targeting high-value individuals involved in the distribution of large quantities of illegal substances.
