Malacañang has issued a direct appeal to the Filipino public for assistance in locating a key fugitive connected to a major human trafficking case. The government confirmed that Cassandra Li Ong remains within the country and is actively being sought by authorities.
Public Asked to Report Sightings Immediately
During a press briefing on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, Presidential Spokesperson Cheloy Garafil relayed the latest information from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). Based on their records, Ong is still believed to be in the Philippines. Garafil emphasized that Ong is now officially considered a fugitive from justice following the issuance of a warrant for her arrest.
"Anyone among our countrymen who might see Cassandra Ong should immediately inform our law enforcement agencies so they can serve the warrant of arrest on her," Garafil stated. She stressed that timely information from citizens is crucial for law enforcement to act.
PHP 1 Million Reward for Information
The search for Cassandra Ong is not just a law enforcement operation; it also involves a significant financial incentive for tips. The Department of Justice (DOJ) is offering a PHP 1 million reward for any information that leads to determining her exact whereabouts.
This substantial bounty underscores the seriousness of the case and the government's determination to apprehend her. Ong is identified as one of the central figures in a pending human trafficking case related to Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGOs) in Central Luzon.
All Forms of Public Assistance Welcome
When questioned if the Palace would encourage people to take photos of fugitives like Ong, similar to past DILG appeals, Garafil welcomed all potential help from the public. She clarified that any assistance, big or small, would be valuable in the government's mission to bring fugitives to justice.
"In all instances, through any possible means, whether a small or big help, that will assist the government in making fugitives face justice," the spokesperson affirmed. This open call for collaboration highlights the role of community vigilance in supporting national law enforcement efforts.
The government's coordinated push, combining official police work with public engagement and a high-value reward, marks a concerted effort to resolve this high-profile case and deliver accountability.
