Iloilo Police Enhance Traffic Enforcement with Comprehensive LTO Deputation Seminar
The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), under the leadership of Police Colonel Wilbert Parilla, successfully conducted a two-day traffic law enforcement capability seminar on April 15–16, 2026. This critical training event was held at the ICPO Function Hall, located on the third floor of the Admin Building at Camp Achilles D. Plagata on General Luna Street in Iloilo City. The seminar was specifically designed to deputize police personnel for enhanced traffic management roles, in coordination with the Land Transportation Office Region 6.
Leadership Emphasizes Training and Discipline for Safer Roads
Police Lieutenant Colonel Lindley Barrientos, the deputy city director for administration of ICPO, represented Colonel Parilla during the proceedings. In his address, Barrientos highlighted the seminar's significance, stating, “Through this deputation seminar, we are enhancing not only our competence but also our responsibility to ensure safer roads for the public. Well-trained personnel translate to more effective traffic enforcement and better service to our community.” Colonel Parilla also commended the performance of ICPO units, noting their commitment to excellence and dedication to service as key drivers of the organization's success.
Comprehensive Training for 71 Police Personnel
A total of 71 personnel from various ICPO units participated in the seminar, including members from Police Stations 1 to 10, the Iloilo City Mobile Force Company (ICMFC), the Mobile Patrol Unit, and the Traffic Enforcement Unit. The event was facilitated by Police Lieutenant Colonel Michael Patosa, chief of the Traffic Enforcement Unit. Prior to deputization, attendees received comprehensive lectures on road safety from Bernard Bacay, a driving skills rater, and Gemmuel Eola, an application support staff, both from the Traffic Safety Unit of LTO Region 6.
The training program also included mandatory neuro-psychiatric and medical examinations to ensure all personnel met the readiness and qualification standards for deputized functions. Police Lieutenant Colonel Lorenez Losaria, deputy city director for operations of ICPO, emphasized the importance of discipline in his welcome remarks, stating, “Let us remember, ang disiplina sa dalan nagaumpisa sa aton kaugalingon. This seminar is a vital step in strengthening our capabilities as law enforcers to effectively manage traffic and enforce road safety laws.”
