PNP ACG Warns Public on Online Bomb Threats

The Philippine National Police Anti-Cybercrime Group (PNP ACG) is intensifying its campaign against individuals using the internet to spread bomb threats in schools and communities. The PNP ACG has identified and filed cases against those behind these threats.

Eight Cases Filed Since January

Since January 2026, eight cases of online bomb threats have been filed in court. The latest incident occurred on July 8, 2026, when consecutive bomb threats were reported in schools in Cavite. Suspects posted on social media that they had planted bombs in several schools.

Legal Consequences

The PNP ACG reminds the public that making bomb jokes or threats, whether on social media or messaging apps, is punishable by law. Offenders face up to five years in prison and a fine of up to P400,000.
