A motorcycle rider died after colliding with a Toyota Hilux on the Transcentral Highway (TCH) in Barangay Cantipla, a mountainous area of Cebu City, at around 12:20 p.m. on Sunday, July 12, 2026.
Victim declared dead on arrival
The victim, identified as Jigger Teledorio Jayme, 27, a resident of Barangay Pundol in Balamban town, was declared dead on arrival (DOA) at a private hospital in Cebu City.
According to the initial investigation by the Traffic Enforcement Unit of the Cebu City Police Office, the Toyota Hilux pickup truck, driven by Ramil Alindao Dico, 42, of Barangay Tayud, Consolacion, was heading uphill toward Cebu City. Meanwhile, the victim, who was riding a Yamaha NMAX motorcycle, was descending toward Balamban.
Collision at a curve
Upon reaching a curved section of the highway, the motorcycle allegedly crossed into the opposite lane and collided with the Hilux. The impact was so strong that Jayme was thrown from his motorcycle, which skidded several meters. The Hilux driver reportedly could not brake immediately because the airbag deployed.
The victim was rushed to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
