Three Suspects Apprehended in Lanao del Norte Firearms Operation
Law enforcement authorities have successfully arrested three individuals, one of whom sustained injuries, during a targeted police operation in the province of Lanao del Norte. The incident was confirmed by police officials on Friday, April 10, 2026.
Details of the Arrest and Suspects
Police Colonel Leo Sua, the director of the Lanao del Norte police force, identified the apprehended suspects by their aliases. The individuals are Rey, aged 26; Ar, aged 53; and Dio, aged 33. According to Sua, the operation was conducted based on credible intelligence reports regarding the illegal sale of firearms in the area.
The arrests took place around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 9, in Purok 1, Pange village, located in the municipality of Baroy, Lanao del Norte. During the confrontation, suspect Dio opened fire at the government operatives, prompting lawmen to return fire. This exchange resulted in Dio being wounded in the incident.
Confiscated Items and Current Status
Authorities confiscated significant evidence from the suspects, including three caliber .45 pistols along with ammunition, a motorcycle, and various firearms paraphernalia. The two uninjured suspects, Rey and Ar, along with the seized motorcycle, are currently under the custody of the Baroy Municipal Police Station for proper legal disposition.
The injured suspect, Dio, remains confined at the Baroy Provincial Hospital, where he is receiving necessary medical treatment for his wounds. Police Colonel Sua emphasized that the operation was a result of coordinated efforts and commended the operating personnel for their swift and effective action in addressing the illegal firearms trade.
