2 Davao Region Barangays Declared Drug-Cleared in Anti-Drug Milestone
2 Davao Barangays Declared Drug-Cleared

The Davao Region marked another significant achievement in its ongoing battle against illegal drugs as two barangays received official drug-cleared status during a high-level regional meeting on November 13, 2025.

Regional Oversight Committee Convenes

The Regional Oversight Committee on the Barangay Drug Clearing Program (ROCBDC) gathered at the Davao City Anti-Drug Abuse Council Conference Room located within the Davao City Recreation Center along Quimpo Boulevard. The committee meeting was chaired by PDEA-Davao Regional Director Edgar T. Jubay and included participation from multiple key agencies.

Representatives from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Health (DOH), Police Regional Office–Davao, and concerned local government units all contributed to the session that evaluated the drug-clearing status of various communities across the region.

Barangays Achieve Drug-Cleared Status

During the crucial meeting, Barangay Mudiang in Davao City and Barangay Zone 1 in Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur were formally granted drug-cleared status after successfully completing all requirements outlined in Dangerous Drugs Board Regulation No. 4, Series of 2021.

The oversight committee's validation process extended beyond these two barangays, with the panel confirming 15 additional barangays as drug-free and validating the drug-cleared status of 159 barangays throughout the Davao Region.

Sustaining Drug-Free Communities

Local chiefs of police, Anti-Drug Abuse Council members, and barangay representatives witnessed the formal declarations and reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining drug-free communities. Officials emphasized that continuous monitoring and local enforcement would remain priorities to prevent backsliding and ensure long-term success.

These new declarations strengthen the region's overall progress under the Barangay Drug-Clearing Program. According to earlier reports, the Davao Region has already recorded 987 drug-cleared barangays, demonstrating steady collaboration among law enforcement agencies, the health sector, and local government units.

The inclusion of Barangay Mudiang particularly contributes to Davao City's continued advancement toward establishing a broader and more resilient network of drug-free and drug-cleared communities, showcasing the effectiveness of multi-agency cooperation in addressing drug-related challenges.
