Three young men are facing criminal charges after allegedly threatening another group with what turned out to be a toy firearm during a confrontation in Cebu City over the weekend.
Saturday Night Confrontation
The incident occurred around 8:40 PM on Saturday, November 15, 2025, along B. Aranas Extension in Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City. According to police reports, the confrontation began when the suspects approached and threatened another group of youth with what appeared to be a weapon.
Personnel from the Mambaling Police Station responded to reports that individuals were brandishing firearms in the area. Upon arrival, officers encountered one of the suspects, identified as 18-year-old Joey from Barangay Mambaling, still holding the toy gun.
Suspects Reveal Motive
During police interrogation, the three suspects revealed they had just returned from eating in Pasil when another group of young men approached them in a confrontational manner. The situation quickly escalated, prompting one of the suspects, Flores, to draw his concealed toy gun and point it at the approaching group.
The suspects were identified by their aliases as Nick, 16, and Mars, 17, both residents of Barangay Duljo-Fatima, along with Joey, 18, from the neighboring Barangay Mambaling. Witnesses reported seeing the suspects aiming the toy weapon at the other group, who subsequently fled the scene.
Legal Consequences
All three young men were formally charged with alarm and scandal and underwent inquest proceedings on Monday, November 17, 2025. The case highlights continuing concerns about youth involvement in confrontational incidents and the potential dangers of replica weapons in tense situations.
Local authorities have reminded the public that brandishing any object resembling a firearm in a threatening manner constitutes a criminal offense, regardless of whether the weapon is real or imitation. The incident marks another case of youth-related disturbances being treated seriously by Cebu City law enforcement.
