Cebu City Police Chief Relieved, Ylanan Appointed

A significant leadership change is underway at the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) as Camp Crame orders the relief of its current chief, Police Colonel Enrico Figueroa.

New Leadership for Cebu City Police

In a directive dated November 12, 2025, the national headquarters of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Camp Crame issued the order for Figueroa's relief. The officer designated to replace him is Police Colonel George Ylanan, the former chief of the Regional Civil Security Unit 7.

As of November 13, 2025, the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 has not yet released the formal assumption order for Ylanan. However, a reliable source from PRO 7 confirmed the impending change in command.

A Chain of Command Reshuffle

This move initiates a series of reassignments within the police leadership in Central Visayas. According to the same source, Police Colonel Enrico Figueroa is set to take over the position of Police Colonel Antonietto Cañete, who currently serves as the Regional Chief of Directorial Staff.

In turn, Police Colonel Cañete has been appointed by Police Brigadier General Redrico Maranan to lead the Lapu-Lapu City Police Office.

On November 13, 2025, Figueroa summoned all 13 station commanders to a meeting in the CCPO conference room. During this meeting, he officially informed them that he would be relieved from his post and presided over a final turnover ceremony.

Profiles of the Key Officers

Police Colonel Enrico Figueroa is a member of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) Class of 1999. He assumed his role as the chief of the Cebu City Police Office on January 13, 2025, taking over from Police Colonel Antonietto Cañete.

His successor, Police Colonel George Ylanan, belongs to the PNPA Class of 2002. His assignment to the CCPO is considered a homecoming. Ylanan is a Cebuano and had previously been assigned to the region for a long period before being transferred to another region during the Duterte administration.

Notably, Ylanan was the preferred choice of Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival and Councilor Paul Labra II, a former Police General, to lead the city's police force.
