Davao City Wins Best Project Monitoring Award in DavPrIME 2024
Davao City Wins Best Project Monitoring Award

The City Government of Davao has once again demonstrated its leadership in effective and transparent governance. Its City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) Project Monitoring Committee (PMC) was honored with the Best City Project Monitoring Committee Award for 2024.

A Recognition of Excellence in Governance

The prestigious award was presented during the Regional Development Council-11 4th Quarter Meeting on December 03, 2025, held at Sotogrande Hotel. The recognition is part of the Davao Region's Search for Project Implementation and Monitoring Excellence (DavPrIME), an initiative spearheaded by the Regional Project Monitoring Committee (RPMC)-11. DavPrIME serves as a distinctive platform for promoting good governance by consistently recognizing excellence in both project implementation and monitoring.

Keys to Success: Adherence, Inclusion, and Continuous Effort

According to Errol John S. Denosta, the Acting Head of the Project Monitoring and Evaluation Division (PMED), the committee's victory was no accident. In an interview on "Tara, Magplano ta with CPDO" over Davao City Disaster Radio on December 17, 2025, Denosta highlighted the key factors.

He explained that the city PMC strictly followed all required protocols for project monitoring. Furthermore, they expanded their reach by actively involving civil society organizations in the process. Denosta emphasized the committee's unwavering functionality throughout the year, with monitoring activities conducted every single month without gaps.

To build capacity across the local government, the PMC also conducted training sessions for other offices. This initiative aimed to strengthen their colleagues' ability to oversee implemented projects effectively, ensuring a wider net of accountability.

More Accolades and a Firm Commitment

Davao City's excellence was further highlighted with finalist citations in two other DavPrIME categories. The Davao City Special Needs Intervention Center for Children was a finalist in the Infrastructure Category, while the No-Scalpel Vasectomy Program was recognized in the Non-Infrastructure Category.

Cons F. Navarro, Engineer I of the PMED, reaffirmed the committee's dedication. She stated that the PMC will continue its commitment to vigilant monitoring. The ultimate goal is to guarantee that government services are delivered correctly, with cleanliness, clarity, and full transparency for the benefit of all Davaoeños.

The City PMC, as noted in a Facebook post by the Davao CPDO, holds a critical role. It oversees the monitoring and evaluation of a wide array of projects, including those funded by foreign and national sources, the Internal Revenue Allotment (IRA), LGU counterpart funds, direct releases to the City, and locally funded initiatives.

Setting the Standard for Sustainable Development

By securing these awards, Davao City solidifies its reputation as a model of governance. The achievements underscore that transparency, collaboration, and accountability are not just ideals but practiced cornerstones of the city's journey toward sustainable development. This recognition from DavPrIME 2024 serves as both a validation of current efforts and a motivation for the city to maintain its high standards in public service.
