Cebu Politician Demands Action Over Politics in Flood Crisis
Cebu Fifth District Representative Duke Frasco has publicly called upon Cebu Governor Pamela Baricuatro to set aside political differences and provide immediate assistance to areas devastated by recent flooding in the province. The appeal specifically highlights the plight of Liloan, a town that, according to the congressman, has yet to receive any aid from the Provincial Capitol.
A Public Appeal for Unity and Heavy Machinery
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page on Sunday, November 9, 2025, Frasco urged Governor Baricuatro to “Stop the politics and start the governance.” He stressed that what residents desperately require are not political maneuvers but tangible resources for recovery. “This is the time for us Cebuanos to come together and help one another,” Frasco stated. He directly addressed the Governor, saying, “Gov, we don’t need your cameras or your social media teams’ attacks. What we need are your excavators, payloaders, bulldozers, and backhoes to help us on the ground. We need your help. Asa naman mo?”
Contrasting Responses to the Disaster
The congressman pointed out a significant disparity in the disaster response. He revealed that since November 5, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), various local government units, and the private sector have already been conducting clearing operations and deploying resources to the affected areas. Despite these coordinated efforts, Frasco claims the Provincial Government of Cebu has not sent a single piece of heavy equipment or any other form of clearing assistance to Liloan. Emphasizing the urgency, he stated, “Liloan urgently needs help. Despite our political differences, Liloan is still part of Cebu and the Liloanons are Cebuanos, too.” He concluded with a powerful plea: “Tabangi ang Liloan, Gov, ayaw daug-dauga tungod lang sa politika kay ang tawo ang mag-antos (Help Liloan, Gov, don't let it be overshadowed by politics because it is the people who will suffer).”
