Violent Altercation Erupts After Billiards Game in Naga City
A 37-year-old man is recovering from gunshot wounds after being shot by his relative following a heated argument over a billiards game in Naga City. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, November 27, 2025.
The victim has been identified as Kevin Tapdasan Pansoy, 37, a resident of Sityo Proper, Barangay Guindarohan in Minglanilla City. The shooting took place at approximately 12:30 AM in Sityo Balisong, Barangay Cantao-an, Naga City.
Confrontation Over Billiards Loss Turns Violent
According to investigations conducted by the Naga City Police Station, the incident began when the suspect, identified as Liberato Saavedra, confronted Pansoy at a local establishment where the victim was singing videoke. The confrontation stemmed from an earlier billiards game where Saavedra had lost to Pansoy.
Witnesses reported that Saavedra became enraged after losing the billiards match and felt he hadn't been given a chance to recover from his defeat. The suspect allegedly challenged Pansoy to a fistfight, but friends of both men managed to separate them and advised them to go home instead.
Ambush and Shooting Incident
What initially appeared to be a diffused situation quickly escalated when Saavedra left the area first, followed shortly by Pansoy. As Pansoy was walking home, Saavedra was waiting in ambush further along the route.
The suspect then produced a revolver pistol and attempted to shoot the victim, but the weapon initially failed to discharge. During the struggle that ensued as Pansoy tried to wrestle the firearm away from his attacker, the gun eventually fired, striking Kevin in the arm.
Following the shooting, Saavedra immediately fled the scene, while the wounded victim sought help from neighbors who rushed him to Minglanilla District Hospital for medical treatment.
Police Response and Ongoing Investigation
Local authorities have launched an immediate manhunt operation to locate and apprehend suspect Liberato Saavedra. The Naga City Police Station is actively pursuing leads and gathering additional evidence related to the shooting incident.
