Masantol Authorities Destroy 114 Modified Mufflers in Strict Ordinance Enforcement
In a decisive move to uphold municipal regulations, the town of Masantol witnessed the destruction of 114 modified mufflers on Monday, February 16. This action was spearheaded by Mayor Danilo Guintu and Police Chief Major Jimmy Malonzo, who oversaw the confiscated devices being rendered unusable as part of the enforcement of Municipal Ordinance No. 2016-007.
Consistent Enforcement to Ensure Community Peace
Mayor Guintu emphasized that the modified mufflers were seized from motorists during routine checkpoints and various police operations conducted across the municipality. He highlighted the unwavering commitment of the local government unit (LGU) and the police force in enforcing this ordinance, aiming to maintain peace and order for all residents.
"We need to be consistent so that our citizens understand and internalize that this is truly not allowed," Guintu stated, underscoring the importance of persistent efforts to embed compliance within the community.
Ongoing Campaign Against Illegal Mufflers
This initiative is part of a broader campaign that began in January of this year, where the local government started confiscating and destroying illegal motorcycle mufflers. The mayor issued a stern warning to the public, reminding them that non-compliance with the ordinance carries significant consequences.
Violators face not only the confiscation of their devices but also additional penalties, reinforcing the LGU's dedication to curbing noise pollution and promoting a safer environment. This proactive approach reflects a growing trend in local governance to address quality-of-life issues through targeted enforcement actions.
