New Cebu Police Chief Meets Mayor, Gets P12M Support

New Police Chief Pledges Enhanced Security for Cebu City

The newly appointed chief of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), Police Colonel George Ylanan, conducted a courtesy call with Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival on Monday morning, November 17, 2025. The meeting, held at the mayor's office, marked a significant step in strengthening the collaboration between the city government and the local police force.

Mayor's Support and Approved Funding for Patrol Vehicles

During the meeting, Mayor Archival warmly welcomed the new police chief and assured him of his full support for the Cebu City police. A key outcome of this commitment is the approval of a P12 million fund by the city council. This substantial budget is designated for the purchase of eight new vehicles to bolster the police fleet.

In a move towards modern and eco-friendly law enforcement, Mayor Archival specifically instructed that the new vehicles be electric cars to be used as patrol cars. Colonel Ylanan confirmed that the procurement process is set to begin immediately, with the goal of having the new electric patrol vehicles deployed before Christmas.

Additional Support and Chief Ylanan's Assurance

Beyond the new vehicles, Mayor Archival also pledged to increase the gasoline allocation for the CCPO. This additional support is contingent upon the police office providing a clear report on how the fuel is utilized, ensuring transparency and accountability.

In response, Colonel Ylanan, a native of Cebu City and a member of the Philippine National Police Academy Class of 2002, gave his personal assurance to the mayor. He vowed that the support provided by the city government will not go to waste.

He committed to solving any crimes that occur in the shortest time possible and promised to do everything in his power to make Cebu City the safest place to live, free from criminal elements.
