Sta. Ana Local Government Conducts Comprehensive Warehouse Safety Inspections
The municipal government of Sta. Ana has recently undertaken a series of detailed inspections targeting several warehouses within its jurisdiction. This initiative aims to rigorously enforce existing laws and ensure strict adherence to established safety regulations across all business operations.
Mayor Leads Multi-Agency Inspection Team
Mayor Dinan Labung personally spearheaded the inspection efforts, visiting a total of five warehouse facilities. He was accompanied by a comprehensive team that included the Municipal Administrator, various department heads, personnel from the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), and representatives from the local police force. This collaborative approach underscores the administration's commitment to thorough oversight.
The inspected warehouses were strategically located across several barangays, including San Juan, Sta. Maria, San Roque, and San Pablo. During these visits, Mayor Labung emphasized the critical importance of maintaining proper safety protocols. He reminded business owners and company officers that these measures are essential not only for protecting their employees but also for safeguarding their operational continuity and the well-being of surrounding communities.
Strong Warning Against Corrupt Practices
In a particularly firm directive, Mayor Labung issued a clear warning to BFP personnel, urging them to cease any engagement in corrupt practices that could potentially compromise public safety. "I-check niyo ng maayos 'yung mga layout at plano. Wag naman 'yung makukuha sa kumpadre system o under the table. Iwasan natin 'yun kasi babalik din sa atin ang problema kapag nasunugan," Labung stated emphatically. This statement highlights the administration's zero-tolerance policy towards corruption in regulatory processes.
Compliance Issues Identified and Addressed
The inspection process revealed specific compliance deficiencies at one of the warehouses. The facility was flagged for lacking an essential Environmental Compliance Certificate from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, as well as a required building permit from the local government unit. Additionally, issues were noted concerning the warehouse's sanitation system.
Mayor Labung promptly instructed the business operator to secure all necessary permits and address the identified operational shortcomings. He reassured business owners of the administration's supportive approach, stating, "Nandito kami hindi para manggipit kundi tumulong sa inyo. Ako, bilang mayor, hindi ako tumatanggap ng under the table at ganun din ang instructions ko sa lahat ng tao sa munisipyo kaya pwede kayong lumapit sa amin at tutulungan namin kayo."
Call for Community Cooperation
Concluding the inspection initiative, Mayor Labung extended a call to all business proprietors within the municipality. He urged them to actively cooperate with local authorities in fostering a business environment characterized by safety, orderliness, and progressive development. This collaborative effort is positioned as fundamental to the community's overall welfare and economic stability.
